FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Clemmons, NC – 65Medicare.org, an independent Medicare insurance brokerage headquartered in Clemmons, NC, has announced the recipient of the “Senior Scholar” Scholarship. Sheila White of Greenville, NC is the recipient of the 2019-2020 scholarship. White attends Davidson County Community College and is studying Cancer Information Management.
The 65Medicare.org “Senior Scholar” Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that was created to assist an adult, age 50 or over, with paying for a return to college or a change in career path. The application process for the scholarship includes letters of recommendation, review of applicant’s community involvement and a thorough written application.
“The number of applications we received this year was overwhelming. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time and effort to apply for our award,” said Garrett Ball, President of 65Medicare.org. “We had many qualified applicants, and Sheila’s inspiring story of perseverance and determination makes her a worthy recipient of this year’s award.”
White, who is a wheelchair-dependent amputee, has the goal of transitioning from previous positions in the medical field to a role that will allow her to support cancer patients and those treating them.
“As the recipient of the 65Medicare Scholarship, I would like to encourage everyone over 50 to continue to pursue their dreams even if the task seems daunting. The rewards are gratifying,” White said. “I am battling against kidney disease and I’m currently on the waiting list for a Kidney Transplant. You can always find a way to fight Kidney disease by picking yourself up and fighting to get back out there. It will take some life adjustments and challenges, but with Faith it can be done. Thank you 65Medicare.org for supporting me in this educational journey.”
